Over Half of Women Wear the Wrong Shoe Size — Are You One of Them?

Do You Really Know Your Shoe Size? You Might Be Surprised!

Did you know that over 60% of women are wearing the wrong shoe size? That’s right, more than half of us are strutting around in shoes that are too big, too small, too narrow, or too wide. It’s no wonder our feet are tired by the end of the day!

Between changes in weight, pregnancy, aging, and simply not checking for years, our feet can change more than we realize. Yet most of us still buy the same size we’ve always worn, and when shopping online, that can make finding the perfect fit tricky.

So, how do you make sure you’re wearing the right size and make shoe shopping with us easier than ever? It’s simpler than you think!

How to Measure Your Feet at Home:

  1. Grab a piece of paper, a pencil, and a ruler or measuring tape.

  2. Place the paper on a hard floor (not carpet!) and stand on it barefoot.

  3. Trace around each foot. (Tip: It helps to have someone do this for you!)

  4. Measure the length from the back of your heel to the tip of your longest toe.

  5. Measure the width at the widest part of your foot.

  6. Use these measurements to find your size in the general chart below, then check each shoe’s measurements and fit notes on our website for the best results — don’t just guess!

How to Tell If You’re Narrow, Wide, or Just Right

Your foot width is just as important as length when it comes to comfort! Here’s how to check:

✔️ Measure the width of your foot at its widest point (usually the ball of your foot).

✔️ Compare that number to these general width guidelines:

US Size Narrow Medium/Standard Wide
5 2.8" 3.2" 3.55"
6 2.95" 3.3" 3.7"
7 3.05" 3.45" 3.8"
8 3.2" 3.55" 3.95"
9 3.3" 3.7" 4.05"
10 3.45" 3.8" 4.2"
11 3.55" 3.95" 4.3"

If your width measurement lines up closer to the “Wide” column, you likely need a bit more space than standard sizing offers.

What to Look For If You Have Wide Feet

While we don’t carry shoes labeled specifically as “wide width,” some styles naturally give you more wiggle room! If you have wider feet, try looking for:

Shoes with adjustable features — think laces, buckles, or straps that can loosen up.
Soft, flexible materials like stretch-knit fabrics or genuine leather that mold to your foot over time.
Rounded or square toe boxes instead of pointed toes — these give your toes more space.
Sandals or open-toe styles that don’t squeeze the front of your foot.
Slip-on sneakers or booties with elastic side panels for a comfier fit around your instep.

💡 Pro tip: Always check our product descriptions, we often share if a shoe runs roomy or has a more relaxed fit. And when in doubt, just reach out, we’re always happy to help you pick the best styles for your feet!

Give Your Feet the Perfect Fit

Finding your true size means fewer returns, less frustration, and shoes that feel as good as they look!

Quick tips:

  • If your feet are two different sizes (which is very common!), size up to the larger foot.

  • Measure your feet at the end of the day — your feet swell a bit throughout the day, so you’ll get a more accurate size.

  • Always read our fit notes on each shoe’s product page for any style-specific advice!
